I saw a question a while back from some chick who wrote something like: why are white men dating ugly asian women. I didn't respond to the question because it was stupid but it got me thinking. Do alot of people, white, black, asian, hispanic or whatever go with people of another race because they are attracted to them only? To put it more succinctly, do alot of people go with someone of ANOTHER race because they are just attracted to that race? For instance my hispanic friend only dates black men and no other race. Is this a common thing in your opinion or a rarity? It's not a issue with me or anything but I was just curious as to what people of all different races thought.

And I am not asking for any of the "I don't judge by race" answers. I'n not asking about YOU. I'm asking your opinion on the subject.

I think that there are quite a few people that are attracted to different races of people. Kind of like the whole opposites attracting thing. Or they are dating a certain race based on "good" stereotypes about a certain race. I know of several people that are either white or black and will only date the other. When I asked why I was told that the contrast of their bodies made things more intense for them. I don't think that that is true in all cases, but it is for some.
No matter the reason, I say let them keep at it. I would love more company at the Mixed Pride Parade. :D

I'm white. Dating someone white. But not beacause they're white.
I am usually very attracted to Asian girls, because the ones I see are often very cute. I like cute girls. I don't know if I findthem cute because they're Asian, though. Maybe it's just because I like black hair, dark eyes, pale skin, small faces, small figures.. A lot of Asian girls are like this, but there are non-Asians like this, and I like those too.
I guess in general I have dated (or liked "to the degree necessary for dating") more white people, but that's just because in my city, that's all there is. I "discovered" Asians while travelling.
But to answer your question: I think it's not a rarity for people between "races" to date. Maybe it is in the States, I don't know, that's the impression I get from movies (I know, I know), but over here (Western Europe) I've seen a lot of it. Many people probably prefer their "own kind" because it seems safer. But if you get beyond that border you will find great people also. A friend of mine (white) is going to marry a boy from Turkey not white) in summer. Congratulations to them! =)
...
Great question! I hope nobody is going to post hate spam though =(

People are individual and prefer different things. I know some black men that date only latina and I know some that want to date asian.
People vary.
But to say a whole race prefer another race is wrong....even if the marriages are high.

Personal preferences exist when choosing dates.
I like Asian and Latina women, I myself am Asian. A lot of my friends only date within their races, which is a sad thing because there are so many different people out there that people just automatically assume things, which would make them prejudice.

I fell in love with my Husband for the person who he was. He could have been green and I would have married him because hispersonality was what attracted me to him. Love should have no color as cliche as it sounds. I've dated a lot of people within and out of my race, but I always dated them because I liked them for their personality, looks only get you so far. Oh and I'm asian and my husband just happens to be white.

Nothing wrong with the colour of the skin, if you are in China you get to date Chinese, in Africa you get to date Africans and so on. They always say opposite attracts. It is boring to date a similar race person and culture. Lets all start to mix the colour of the new children.

I think its an attraction to the race, but I also think it's an attraction to the idea of dating OUTSIDE of their own race, too.

It appears to be an increase in inter-racial dating making it appear to be the norm however I think most people prefer an image most like them and choose to marry and reproduce within their race.

Attraction is very subjective. In other words to each his own. I date who ever is attractive to me and it has nothing to do with race.
