I agree with the answers given Pwned does indeed mean Owned but not due to a player's misspelling. It originated in the old Warcraft game (not WoW but the earlier Warcraft Strategy game). A map designer misspeled the word in a particular, and very popular in multiplayer games, map. When a player was beaten, instead of "Player X owned Player Y" the game would show "Player X pwned Player Y". Of course this misspeling was taken by players and is now considered to be an 1337 (Elite) type of game chat. At least that is what I ahve hear :)
And as many would say, if you keep thinking about the origins of the word while gaming you will probably end up being in its context :)

From gaming: "pwned" is a common misspelling of "owned" because "p" and "o" are right next to each other on the keyboard. Because people misspelled it so often, it became a fun sort of insider thing, to intentionally write "pwned" and everybody else would know that you too had seen the misspelling a hundred times or more, making you an experienced gamer.

pwned means "owned," like getting owned in any game. The only difference is that someone misspelled the word owned to pwned, and it just stuck. You may see gamers type the word "owned" or "pwned"; they mean the same thing.

Pwned is "pawned", usually used by people who play online games or usually post on internet forums. It means like "owned", meaning you got beaten in a game real bad or so. For more details, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pwned

I'm not sure of your context, but if it's in an ad for a car or other merchandise, it can mean "pre-owned" or "used".
