Since middle school, I have been an A student by the book kinda guy, but now in high school, sometimes I want to be like the "cool" people who cut class and have greeaaaat social relationships!! Everybody loves them!!! And they have this thing about them!! Like the way they talk or walk!! It's driving me crazy! Sometimes I want to be in their place...Don't get me wrong, in my country(Kuwait) Smart people are not treated bad like in America on the contrary, everybody likes them. But sometimes I want to be like them.....What can I do to upgrade from "Normal" to "cool" level???
And another question: Sometimes, I feel like a very serious person and sometimes I feel the exact opposite!!! How can I know what my personalty really is?? Thanks!

As an incredibly cool person, let me respond...

Coolness could be defined as a lack of worry. Without concern over anything, one can relax...and just 'be cool.'

Since you're actually concerned about your educational performance, you cannot afford to just relax and not worry about anything right now. You've got work to do, and it's important to you.

The 'cool' people don't care about work, or school, or anything. While this may seem fine now, it doesn't take too much thought to realize their comfort is temporary. It will not be long before they have to make a living for themselves and at that time, they will not be able to be cool.

You, on the other hand, having invested the time and effort required to be successful, will be able to relax and enjoy the fruit of your efforts. Your hard work will have rewarded you with time to relax...and the money required to do so without stress.

Don't worry about the 'cool' people in high school. One day, in the not-so-distant future, they will be stressing over finishing their menial jobs, like painting houses or installing roofing tiles...and you will be the one relaxing by the pool, telling them to hurry up and finish because you've got lots of beautiful women on the way over for your party, and you don't want any smelly painters or roofers around when the girls arrive...

wow, this is a toughie, I was kinda in your shoes till this past year. In that past year, I've started partying, getting messed up every weekend and sometimes during the week like b4 i go to school and stuff. I am also a straight a student. Let me tell you first hand, it is alot harder to do when you are goin out all the time and getting trashed. I've noticed a slight drop in my grades, like getting my first b since 6th grade. And for some reason , these days I really just don't care. Thats whats sad about. I understand that you want to be cool but you need to realize the difference between cool and stupid. Right now I think I am on the path to distruction but for some reason I'm lovin and hating every minute of it. You also are talkin about how one minute you think you are one person and the next you think you are another. Believe me, it just gets worse when you throw yourself into bigger situations like the ones i deal with these days.

I don't think the transition you are speaking of from "normal" to "cool" is an upgrade. Especially the cutting classes part.

I think you should act like a serious person when you feel like one, and act "the exact opposite" when you feel like that. It's a good balance and it's real.

Your personality, like most of us, is probably quite a mixture of traits. I think that is saner and safer than any type of extreme one- word personality.
