Want to start a rock band huh? well... Ask your self first... waht do you want?? A.playing on stage to get all the attention or B.playing on stage to feel the "moment" that all great musicians achieve?
if your choice is A... don't bother... just get a better career
if your choice is B. start with mastering your songs of choice... master them with your heart. remember the words... the sound evrything... then if you choose to be the vocalist... get some vocal lessons if your voice really needs work... or just reflect on the mirror to see your bads then improve them. If you choose to be an instrument person like me... choose your instrument wisely... each instrument will give you a hard time mastering them... hey! santana wasn't born holding a guitar... try feeling the tip of his finger and you'll see that they'r rock hard. Master your instrument with a little boost by taking lessons... If your the "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO COZ YOUR MY TEACHER!!!" type, try learing on your own pace.. it's up to how long it will take... I prefer both coz a little lesson won't hurt especially when it comes to reading and understanding notes... (notes? Hell Yeah!!! your not much of a rocker on stage if you don't know notes... ask the rockstars yourself) Then If you think that you experienced enough start recruiting... now here comes the hard part.. recruiting is a hard thing to do... you have to find the people that are compatible to what kind of music you like, their instruments. their experience about it.. It's a lot.. finding the right band members will give you a boost . You'll find your selves in a jamming session jamming a song without even knowing the song... It's called"BAND HARMONY" It's magic once you understand it. THEN after recruiting the members... Start doing some gigs in small bars then party places, then to the bigger places where you'll find some big people that will support your band... you'll have ONE SHOT at this opportunity and if you handle it well.. BOOM!!! your a rockstar... and if luck is not at your side... just wait for the next opportunity... REMEMBER: band life is a life full of risks... I advise you NOT to choose band life as your career if your not that much of a band. Just choose it as a sideline and find a much "riskless" career. hope it helps... dont forget me when your at the top... ^_^

Learn to sing and play instruments.

First, learn instruments. If you can catch on and play a instrument you wont need to sing. Practice makes perfect. Then go to a voice coach and they with teach you how to sing. And there you have it.

As often, the answer is contained in the question: LEARN to SING, and LEARN at least one INSTRUMENT! Alternatively, you may join NICKELBACK or FOO FIGHTERS 'cause they can't sing or play either!
