I'm sure there are examples of someone from every religion marrying someone from every other religion (or lack of). However, the majority of religions discourage having a non-beliving partner.
nickname: If I liked a Muslim and she expected me to become a practising Muslim to marry her, I would have a problem with that, since I don't believe in Islam, Allah or the Koran. Why should the atheist give up their beliefs to practise religion that they disagree with?

@ She Said, there are many things supposedly not permitted in Islam yet people disobey the rules. Muslims do marry atheists and people of other religions, especially in europe and Turkey. Whether or not one would marry a Muslim in the end depends on how much you love someone, I think for an atheist the same criteria applies to marrying a fundamentalist Christian as well. BTW a Muslim woman I know very well is married to an atheist.

am a muslim woman myself..i think it really depends on the individuals & the couple.
i have a few muslim frens w these kinds of marriage. one married a christian, another an atheist (or a free-thinker so to speak). the non-muslim is always the one who converts (into a muslim). -- from where i am, Singapore (or countries like Malaysia/Brunei)...its a must in these kind of marriage coz its a sin if a muslim converts.
but for all my frens, all of them dun really practise the religion so its not really a problem for the "new muslim-convert" --the other spouse who converted into muslim.
so to answer your question..id say, if e couple is really serious in e marriage den it would be of no problem for the Atheist guy to marry her and convert into a Muslim himself rite? And also practise the religion together with her.
hope this answers your qn..
Gd luck!

They seem so different, but I think there are a lot of interfaith relationships out there. I don't think religion is the only trait people look for in a partner. Larry King is agnostic (raised Jewish) so he's not very religious, yet he's married to a Mormon woman!

Would a Mormon? Would a Catholic? The answer is yes. I've seen it happen, though it is rare because religion can become a fairly large debate, especially when it comes to kids.

No, unless she was not practicing her religion, then she would also be wearing skanky clothes and sleeping around and gossiping and murdering.
