I really think it's a case of mid-life boredom, it's okay to think some other guy is cute but these thoughts pass. I'd like to suggest the women finds herself a hobby or interest to occupy her time, even a part time job. Don't jeopardize what sounds like a happy and loving relationship with fantasies that can't be fulfilled.

I totally agree with Polynesia: mid-life boredom. BTW, women aged 40+ don't get 'crushes' anymore, hence the (deserved or undeserved) label of "cougar". I expect you have never heard that term used: you are too young! These women probably were married at too young an age. In all liklihood they had their own children before the age of 25. They missed out on alot in their lives and sense it - and on some level resent it.
"Husband is loving and romantic" by your estimation but you can't know for certain what goes on behind closed doors. Perhaps hubby can't get it up anymore? Hubby, after all, is middle age and men commonly start with the ED at that time.

40's? Crushes? Midlife excitement. It comes. Then it goes. Most intelligent women don't act upon it.
I think for a lot of women, the 40's are peak sexual years, often a pleasant surprise to their husbands.
