Interesting...we would be less obsessed with our looks I suppose, though there would always be mirrors of some kind (other people) to tell us what we look like. It would suck for me because I'm very fair & makeup helps me to add a little colour to my face...Nice idea though. I tend to be vain & by that I don't mean conceited by any stretch, just concerned about my appearance (always have to check if I look ok. It's an insecurity/perfectionist control freak thing. I'm not full of myself, more like empty of myself!) Though I suppose if I was never able to check, then I'd be a little different. More relaxed about it. But I'd be homely (lier)! I certainly wouldn't be hit on as much! Maybe I'm born with it, maybe it's maybelline! Tee hee. I'm not superficial but appearance definitely makes a difference to others.

I think telescopes need mirrors too.

Before there were mirrors there were clear, still ponds. People have been full of themselves since the dawn of time. The only way to get over it is to mature, not by eradicating mirrors.

Perhaps. But it would be "better" enough. I mean, if all it took was cracking some mirrors? Seems to me that there are bigger worries than vanity and superficiality. You know, like genocide.

Standards and judgments would still exist just based on something other than mirror reflected images

It won't make any difference because humans are also 'mirrors.' Whenever we make comments or judgments regarding other people, then we are exercising our abilities as 'social mirrors.'

nah.... If mirrors are irraticated, than ALL reflective surfaces would be as well for totalitatian's sake... and then where would we be? in the dark. no sound. a state of emptiness.

vanity is death

is what I remembered, all the money wasted and time wasted and life wasted on nail salons, what the hell is the point of having colored nails? I cut my hair myself, and I rarely wash myface

and I look fine, really, look at my avator, I have a mask on, you can't see my face, looking good is over rated

No. Without mirrors, so many things wouldn't be possible. Such as photography, or snorting coke.
