Electrolysis. Take a tank full of water. Mix some diluted sulfuric acid in it. Take 2 electrodes and dip them in the tank. Cover the electrodes with collecting tubes and seal them. Pass electricity through the circuit. Hydrogen and Oxygen gases will get deposited on the electrodes. Remove the tubes. Insert a match into one tube. If it explodes, its hydrogen. If it burns brighter, its oxygen. If nothing happens, you let the gases escape. Seal them properly this time.

(Pure non-ionized water is a poor conductor of electricity.)
DC is fed to the electrodes.
Hydrogen and Oxygen will bubble off the electrodes. By volume you get two parts Hydrogen to one part Oxygen.
Watch out Hydrogen is so extremely flammable when mixed with air or Oxygen that they can be explosive.

to seprate hydrogen from water we perform electrolycis. In which a voltameter(a type of beaker) contains dilute sulphuric acid is present and 2 platinum rods are being inverted on to the test tubes .One +tve,-tve wire is attached to the rods .and then the hydrogen is available in test tube with -tve wire ,and oxygen in -tve wired tube.

Take couple of metal rods (Electrodes), immerse them in a cup of water and pass electricity. Oxygen will collect at anode (+end) and Hydrogen at cathode (-end). If you put the electrodes in two bottles, you can 'collect' them.
