FOOTBALL. Its major in United Kingdom, France, China, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Korea, Germany, and all major countries which make up of at least 70% of the world population. Its only not so popular in United States which is also gaining popularity and is the largest paid out capital ($$$) in whole of sports history. No other sports rake in half the money that football is generating.
Not golf(3% of football's revenue), not rugby, not basketball (Sorry, only make up of 35% of football's revenue) , and oh yeah, sorry but baseball only rake in 2%.
Not only monetary terms, no other sports in the world shake the nations like football.period.

The most popular sport in the world is soccer (football). The most popular sport in the US is American football. That just goes to show you how messed up the whole world is because the best sport of all is baseball!

Soccer: Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Not in the United State though. The whole world calls it “football”, American calls it “soccer” and uses “football” for the sport that only American plays. The American soccer team is so-so, well at least I know Donovan, but the women team is the best. I love to watch them play. My favourite teams, beside the obvious one Vietnam, are (in order): France, England and Brazil. French team played very badly last World Cup and Europian Cup and killed my enthusiasm to watch the biggest events for soccer’s fans all over the world. English was no good either, but still better than French. Anyway, I’m still their fan. The team I dislike the most is Argentina. I don’t like the way they play the game with all the little tricks trying to fool the referee and to manipulate other team’s players.
