Firstly the movie is called 'Sholay'
Secondly the actor's name is Sanjeev Kumar
In the remake the role is performed by Mohanlal. He played the role of the police commissioner in 'Company'

I thought it was Amitab Bachan but whatever...he may be playing another role in the New Sholay though. I do know that the role of Basanti (Hema Malani) is being played by Urmila Matondkar with a different name though.
