that often, but not always included anxiety and depression.. would you go on med that would make the baby possilbe go through withdrawl..

These are only hormones and I over react to normal stresses, so I feel stressed because of hormones, and am anxious alot, but not always.

I quit my doctor who was trying to push meds on me and found a doctor that I am really comfortable with... the last doctor wanted me on prozac and said it was safe and I did my own research and found out that the baby goes through withdrawl... he didn't mention that!

So my question was/is... what level of stress becomes dangerous for a baby.. because we all face stress sometimes, pregnant or not.. and all of us survived when our mom's felt stressed and pregnant...
So would you go on meds that could make your baby go through withdrawl... or would you put up with anxiety for 22 more weeks (I just want to put up with it.. this is my baby we are talking about).

what would you do?

I would NOT take the meds. I was just in your situation and had refused the wellbutin (antidepressant) that both my family doctor and my obgyn was trying to push on me because I was very depressed.

I knew that alot of my depression was situational....the stresses I was undergoing were enormous. Death of my partners mother, ending of my relationship, near death of my own mother, a long distance move, poverty, trouble with my teenager, housing issues...you name it...I experienced it during my pregnancy. At one point I was a complete basket case....unable to even know what to buy at the grocery store. Depression and anxiety were with me almost all the way through!!!

A health nurse told me about the withdrawl thing...and deceided that was the very LAST thing I needed to start off my relationship with this baby.

I opted for some counselling and enrolled in a community based prenatal program where a worker came to my home once a week to talk and stuff.

There are other alternatives to meds. Dont take them if you dont feel right about it...its your body, its your baby

I think maybe you should keep looking for doctors until you find one you are comfortable with and is not trying to push things on you. You might want to try a midwife. They are backed by doctors and most work in hospitals. They will also talk more with you about things that are bothering you and offer natural ways and means of working through your mood swings. Yoga is also good for mood swings.

If you do not feel that your anxiety and stress is not bad enough for medication it more than likely isn't. And I myself most definately would not go meds that would affect my baby.

I don't understand.. I thought you got some good answers already, and when you say what would you do.. you really mean you want to be backed up not to take the medicine right? I saw many answers saying they would not go on meds, and I said I am on meds.. so are you asking whether or not you should go on meds or are you asking for support about the dangers of meds?

I think you should go with your gut, I had an extremely stressful pregnancy, severe anxiety and panic attacks, extreme mood swings (Laughing through tears at least three times a week) In order to relieve these stresses you have to just talk them out with a person you trust, and just keep spilling your guts to them and try to focus your energy into something positive, like preparing your childs room or start a journal for your child and vent like hell through a pen. And remember that worrying is like chasing your tail, nothing gets accomplished and you end up just going in circles. As long as you don't feel like killing yourself or harming your child, you & your child will make it through this
