They are different nightmares each time I have them. Also, I sleep on my side the majority of the time

Depending on your weight, you could be putting pressure on your sciatic nerve which in turn could lower your blood & oxygen supply to your brain causing you to have nightmares. Put a pillow behind your back when you sleep on your side so you can't roll onto your back. Good Luck!

Your sleeping position probably doesn't have anything to do with the frequency of having nightmares.

Plus, how sure are you that you fall asleep on your back? You might be tossing and turning throughout the night.

It happens to me EVERY time. My stepdad, who is a doctor, speculated that perhaps it was because my brain was too heavily weighing on my optic nerves (a bundle of which is at the back of your head). I never had it checked out, but I've learned to sleep on either side, or my stomach.

Good luck, and if you figure something out about it let me know, I haven't slept on my back in 12 years!!!

My niece had night paralysis everytime she slept on her back - she would wake up screaming. She said it always felt like someone was holding her down.

We finally had to purchase extra pillows and stayed up each night to make sure she didn't wind up on her back. She still sleeps with the pillows - Thankfully we now get to sleep.
