I used to have a perfect flawless skin. I have pimples here and there but I don't seem to care about them because they are almost unnoticeable. These past few monts I've been breaking out and my zits are leaving ugly dark spots in my face. I used to feel pretty and confident. I used to be all happy and glee everyday and saying "hi" with a smile to everybody I know. But I can't help to feel bad about my condition. I know it sounds superficial but I can't seem to feel confident and feel pretty anymore with my bad breakouts and acne marks. I am losing my self confidence and my "smiles". I tried wearing makeup to hide it. Actually it looked pretty good but everytime I take off the makeup everynight and look at myself in the mirror. I just feel horrible. I feel sad and kinda depressed. I tried lots of products but they don't work. I don't know what to do. Please help

I have been having the exact problem recently, and I am 25! I've been frustrated and down about it. However I have been using the product Differin, a gel my dr. prescribed me, for about 3 weeks now - and am getting great results!!!!

I have heard a lot of people complain about this product, but I had two doctors that both recommended it for me. Bottom line: you just need to see a doctor. My zits were also large bumps on my face - not a typical pimple. But I didn't have them all over, so I wouldn't say it was servere. Both dr.'s also said my acne looked to be caused by hormones/stress. If this is the case for you, Differin might be good for you, too!

I will warn you that for the first couple weeks it may dry your face out, and make it red and sting. After that, you will start to see improvements everyday. It can take up to 1 to 3 months to see full results - but it is worth it, just stick with it.

I have also heard a lot of positive feedback for Proactiv. Never tried it myself, but it sure sounds like it works wonders for some. What you should do now: GO SEE A DR. or DERMATOLOGIST first. Then weigh your options.

Best of luck!!!! I know first hand that it is no fun, but finding a treatment and being patient w/ it will be worth it in the long run.

I'd say the same as the majority of people here. See a doctor.

Acne flaring up can be from many things including hormones. Have you recently started to take a birth control pill? Pay attention to when the flare ups are in relation to your period also, to see if there is a pattern, and let your doctor know if there is one.

Sometimes all that's needed is a course of anti biotics and it can clear it up for good. Stronger facial washes and creams can be obtained with a prescription also.

As for losing confidence, I'm sorry to hear that. It's easy to tell you to have confidence for other aspects of yourself but not so easy to do when this is affecting you so much. Get yourself to a doctor and start to improve your skin, it would be the best way for you to regain your self confidence and rebuild a posiive self image. Once that's under control it will be easier to have confidence in all aspects that make you beautiful as a human being and hopefully your smiles will return ten fold.

Good luck and keep your chin up.

Karma.

You have low self confidence about yourself because you think that you don't fit the image of society's ideal image of a person. That is one of the problems in the world these days, everyone thinks they should look like someone else. Society as a whole is being force-fed millions of images of "ideal people" based on the opinions of a small group of people who work in advertising or media, and most accept these images as the norm and anyone who differs from this "ideal image" is criticized or looked down upon.

You need to realize that every single person on earth is unique and can bring their own unique traits to the world no matter on what their appearances may be. Just because you think you don't have "flawless skin" , that doesn't make you any less of a person. And who really gets to decide what "flawless skin" is, and why you should have to look like so and so. As long as nothing is hurting you physically, it is all pretty much in your own mind that determines how you can present yourself to others. If you keep thinking the way you were before and keep focusing on smiling and being the same vibrant person before, I am sure that people will be sure to pick that white smile and great attitude before any "flaws" you think you might have.

Good luck!

Despite what people say about how important it is to like yourself and be yourself and don't worry about your looks what will really solve your problem is to get good skin again. Don't worry - you can do it!

They have made outstanding progress with acne medications that can clear up the worst cases imaginable. Check these sites out:

Also don't hesitate to see your dermitologist and ask him/her for recommendations.

There are products out there that do miracles with acne. Try the above links first and if that doesn't do the trick, google "Acne medication". Start looking now and you should have your flawless skin back in around thirty days!

I couldn't tell you what was sensible unless I knew how old you were, and how bad your zits are. There are a bunch of different kinds.

Hormones go crazy at certain times in a person's life, and often there's little or nothing to be done about it besides ride it out or be conned into spending money on largely worthless "cures."

There are dietary things that can be done, and prescription hormonal stuff...but...

If you are young, and you aren't getting the kind that will actually scar and pock you permanently, it's probably not worth worrying about too much. If they ARE send me an e-mail. My oldest stepdaughter had serious probems with this stuff, and we managed to blow them out of the water, so to speak. I'll tell you what I know and what might help.

First of all Retin A is about the best product you can get to deal with this, you need a prescription though, ask your doctor.

Second of all, do you not understand that a pleasant attitude is attractive? In fact long term more attractive than "prettiness"? If you don't feel pretty, have a good personality.

Women neglect their personalities these days, so with a pleasant personality you'll corner a niche market. Looks are only necessary for "attracting men to you in order to get undue attention" imo.

'don't know what to do. Please help'

That over the counter crap is all sales and marketing and making huge money on those of us who are a tad 'gullible', shall we say. This is the nature of the cosmetics industry: they are not marketing 'drugs' so there are no legal restrictions on what they can claim their wonderproduct does. Don't waste your money at Macey's: acne is a medical condition with medical treatments available. (Shh..I will be 46 in two months time and I STILL get them now and again). It's genetic - my mother was the same way. Get thee to a doctor - your GP will probably try to help you first. You won't need to see a dermatologist unless it's REALLY REALLY REALLY bad.

Well instead of feeling sorry for yourself, what don't you do something about it. Go to a dermatologist. It could be an infection or something like that. The doctor will be able to give you some medication to help your skin condition.

keep your skin clean always like wash your face twice in a day or whenever you feel dirty or oily, never put too many chemical product on your face because that will only produce more oils on your skin. Oil that trapped in your skin would caused acne. Try to clean your face as much as possible with clean water and light mosterizer. Dont wear too heavy makeup to allow your skin to breath. Consume fruits and vegetable as much as possible to clean your blood.
