We are searching for the perfect small town in Colorado to settle down and raise our family. We love to be outdoors (hiking, fishing, skiing, etc.) Hubby works at home, so jobs aren't a factor. We would like someplace with good schools and friendly people. Any ideas???

How much money do you have and what kind of weather do you want?

For a great outdoors place with a combo of all of these look into Durango. Gunnison is also great, surrounded by mountains. Montrose is a bit more out in farm country but close to Telluride and other mountains. The closer you get to a ski area, the more expensive the real estate.

Fort Collins is the best place to live in the country, according to Money Magazine. I lived there for 4 years and I agree completely. It's also a good place to rent for a year while you explore all the nice little mountain towns, like Steamboat, Estes Park, Glenwood Springs, Telluride, Crested Butte/Gunnison, Durango, etc. See where you fall in love!

Durango is a good place to live. Small town in southwest Colorado with numerous things to do outside and a great downtown.

I like Steam Boats Springs for some reason. Used to always find a way to stop over there when driving a truck.
