"Ditto". Whoopi was seeing Demi. She said that because Patrick always said that to Demi. Demi knew what that word meant and knew it was her boyfriends way to say " I love you".

In the context of the movie "ditto" means "I love you too", because he won't ever say I love you to Demi. Demi is upset over this, and wants him to say the words. It is a source of both tension and endearment in their relationship. After he died, he knew that if Demi heard that, instead of "I love you", she would know it was him. Because in life he never said the actual words, she wouldn't believe it was him, if he said "I love you" in death.

Sam (Patrick Swayze) has trouble telling Molly (Demi Moore) that he loves her, so he always says ditto. By having Whoopi say "ditto" he's proving that he's still alive, because it was their thing, and something that only he would know.

He said DITTO. Meaning, "the same as stated above or before." When he was alive he never replied with "I love you" when she said she loved him. He replied with "ditto" instead.

ahaha, i thought it was spelt "dido", and once i told dido to my boyfriend (English, i am French) and he said : "why do you say it with an american accent? "it is DITTO and it means: same here, or so do I DEMI, I LOVE YA!
