You can get DSL-Lite 256k down/128k up for about $19.95 to $24.95 a month. You can have them ship you a 'wireless' dsl modem as well with a wireless USB adapter (your pc may have wireless built in already, check your manual). That same wireless adapter can be used on the road if you rent rooms that offer 'free wireless internet', they will give you the login info to connect to it. As for in your car, stop in Krystal, Starbucks, etc. anywhere that offers wireless internet. Just get a coffee and sit in your car and work.

Make sure your patch cable is plugged in at the head end. Where all the cat5 terminates. Go to your command promt under the strt menu, type in ipconfig, if your ethernet gateway gives you an ip address, then you will need to dig a little deeper into the problem, if it doesn't give you an address, you need to be plugged in to the local switch or router. Probably on the same floor in the middle of the building or perhaps the basement.

Wireless internet sounds like what you want. Don't know about under $20 though.

You can get deals near that price using DSL though. , but that really won't help you when you are on the go.
