Great start by telling them first what you are going to talk about.
expand that a bit by telling that the Internet is becoming more popular and is used by people of all ages and especially younger people are becoming proficient at it. There are pros to it in personal and professional life and education but there are also cons.
Next state your pros in these areas. People of all ages can contact family members in our world today where so many families are scattered about. You can reach out to other people and pursue interests and work at home. It can offer jobs at home. Then a con. Some people can become home bound and spend too much time on the computer without socializing. Others can spend money that they do not have in service, upgrades etc. Many, especially seniors can't use it to full potential because they need help learning.
Then go to professional life and education with pros and cons.
Make an outline for yourself to follow. You have chosen a good subject as you will be familiar with it, there is a lot written about it and your audience will be familiar.
In education pros are preparation for the world in the future and jobs and globalization of the marketplace whereas funding does not include enough computers, or instruction and the teachers are not properly trained and computers not properly used as they are sometimes used just for reading tests. Little training is given students either.
Good luck.

I know this doesn't address your question directly, but as a speech coach and professional speaker let me give you some helpful hints.
1. Find the "kind eyes". There will be a person or two in the room who are giving you encouraging eye contact. Make sure your eyes find them frequently. It gives a great "psychic courage" boost.
2. Breathe! Sounds obvious, but take a full second or two to breath at least every few seconds. It will help keep you calm, and it will also help keep your rate slow.
3. As for a speech topic, rather than something simple, pick something you're comfortable with, something you talk about all the time. Explore your hobby. Discuss a topic of genuine interest. That way you can try to forget you're giving a speech and just have the conversation you've had many times before.
4. Use visual aids. Not just a poster or PowerPoint, but scrapbooks, props, examples. They take the focus off you and place them on the objects.
Hope this helps!

If you use a prop I think you will be a lot less nervous. Perhaps explaining how to use a fishing rod, or how to plant trees, or how to properly set up a backpack etc. would be the type of thing to get you started.
Let's just pretend. Your topic is how to build a perfect taco.
Now the next step. What do you want the audience to know.
"You can build a perfect taco, it is easy and cheap:"
Now keep this idea in mind as you develop your talk.
1. Introduction
Ever wanted a meal that was cheap, healthy and good for you that you can make in under 20 minutes. Well I have just the meal for you.
Body
While you make the taco show them:
Beans - really healthy give info here
Shells - nutritious and inexpensive
Veggies - an easy way to get your veggies
Sauces - spice it up easily and nicely
Now all these points you do some demo and explain more. Keep it conversational.
Then end by getting someone to come up and try it in front of everyone. Hand out little recipes to the crowd and you will have a fun, lively presentation.
Hint: Prep your volunteer for tasting so they will be positive.
Good luck and remember everyone is nervous.

You know what, Pros and Cons of the internet is cool, but don't sell yourself short just because you're shy. Why don't you do a speech on something you love, enjoy or are passionate about. Trust me, it'll be easier speaking about something you like or enjoy because it can just come from your heart if you get stuck.
Just because you might be a little shy does not make you boring! Remember that.
Once I did a speech on the blue whale, sounds pretty cheesy I know, but it fascinated me. Do you know how many interesting facts there are on blue whales? Like millions!!! And everyone else thought it was cool too.
What about a country you've always wanted to visit, there's stax of info on countries and you could show pics. (You could do it on South Africa - my country, and I could help you out ;)
Or what about interviewing someone cool? Ask if you can bring along a local poet or artist or entrepenuer and ask if you can interview them. You only have to do half the talking!! :)
What really helps alot with stagefright, is practice.
Get your speech all sorted out and practice on family or friends, over and over again, until THEY'VE memorised it! Hahaha! I'm kidding. Practice may sound stupid but it REALLY helps!!!
All I'm saying is, you could do something safe and clinical, or you could make it fun for yourself. Saying a speech doesn't have to be a terrible thing. No matter how you feel right now!
Just remember that whatever you do not conquer, conquers you. Don't let stagefright conquer you. This doesn't mean you can't be scared or afraid, it just means do it anyway, Do It Afraid, Scared and Shaking, but DO IT! :)
I used to be SUPER shy too, I think I used have a panic attack if anyone even said the word 'speech' or 'audience', but you know what, I survived. And when my speech was finished I felt so proud, kinda like if I could do that I could do anything.
And so can you. Be all you can be, one day at a time.
I wish you all the best and its gonna be great, any topic you pick!!

How about 'the pros and cons of using yahoo answers to sucker someone into doing your homework for you' ha ha ha..just kidding
You'll want to so something original or that you're knowledgeable about just in case someone asks questions or wants further clarification so the whale thing wouldn't quite cut it...
So my topic suggestions for you would be pros and cons of file sharing on the internet..do a quick google search and you can find lots of info

One of the easiest speeches to give is a "How To" speech. Basically, you just explain--step by step--how to do something or how something is done. I once gave a speech about how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
