Take your keys and put it in the ignition. Turn the key to acc, without turning the engine over. Look at your dials and at all the lights that turn on. If you have ABS, the letters ABS will light up. If you do not see ABS anywhere, then your vehicle doesn't have it.

as others have said the best (safest)way to tell is by reading your Instrument panel for an ABS light with the key truned to the first position. Or check the owners manual. My first gut reaction is that NO WAY does a 96 civic HB DX have ABS

Bring it to a Honda Dealership and ask for a free 2x-points inspection, if they said it cannot be free, ask for a dealership oil change, it will be professionally done just a few more bucks extra but should include a free inspection including telling you whether your call has ABS or whether it is still working or not. Otherwise, check out the following link ... and it looks like it only has "power brake" and that is NOT ABS (Automatic Braking System).

often times the brake pedal itself will say it in the rubber molding. considering the make and the year i would say you do. you can also look for a fuse for the a.b.s. if you have that you got it. the owners manuel will tell you where the fuse box is and which fuse it is.

In a safe spot - hit the brakes hard. If they are ABS they will not lock up and you will feel a pulsing sensation comeing from the peddle.

It should show on the instrument panel when you first turn the key on.
If it shows up after the motor is on it means that there is a problem with the brakes.

If you stomp on the brakes and the wheels lock up and it skids, you don't have anti-lock brakes.
If you have ABS, you won't skid, but it will feel like the car is shimmying a little as you stomp on the brakes, but it won't skid.

Haul azz down a wet road and then slam on your brakes. If you live through it ,you probably have ABS. If not sorry for the crappy advice.
