Does anyone else feel that American Idol seems to exploit those who are developmentally delayed/ disabled, mentally ill, or otherwise...in order to provide us with sadistic entertainment?
Sometimes I feel so icky about watching the reaction of the judges when they feel they can make fun of a contestant. Especially Paula--the way she's been snickering at the camera when someone comes in looking unusual makes me cringe...
Is it me..or has this gotten worse this year?

I agree, It is so sad the way they TRY to make the contestants look like fools, for example, the way Ryan just stood there with that one guy who couldn't find his sweater, they were trying to make the guy look stupid, all for entertainment. But, at the same time most of these contestants are delusional. They have seen the show and they know they will be made fools of yet they just want to be on tv.

Yes!!!!! All three of them can be so incredibly rude to the contestants when they could have simply told them that this was not for them at this time. I also think that when the cycle through in the beginning stage (before simon, randy, and paula) they should ONLY chose the good ones so that it is more entertaining for the people who actually enjoy singing. Honestly, I think the people who are really bad go on there just to be as bad as they can in hopes of just getting a clip of them on TV.
Seriously! Granted, there may be some that really think they can sing, but good God, most of them are just trying to be "shocking" and get their mugs on the tube. There's no way some of those people can seriously think they have the ability to sing....but then again this country did vote G. W. Bush in twice.

Sometimes it's funny, but most of the time they went too far I can't stand watching again.
