What would you do if while you are sitting in your car in the parking lot of a grocery store, someone bumps a grocery cart on the side of your car by accident and causes a scratch? Is it enough if he apologizes with a frawn on his face or do you ask him to pay for the damage that he has caused? and how much? What is the exact thing that you would do?

A scratch caused by a grocery cart can usually be repaired with Mother's Wax. It is a compound you rub on the car and it usually rubs out a scratch. I don't know exactly how it works, but we used it on the car my husband has for work after he was in a small wreck (wrecking a company car gets you fired), and it looked fine.

So, I would not really go to any lengths to make him pay. He should be very appologetic, though!

well if it was a brand new car and its a fairly large scratch i think you should get out and talk to the person. and ask them what should happen. if you really feel the need to make them pay for it, the new paint job will be expensive. i would talk the the person and work something out just like if you get into a small fender bender. if they refuse to pay for it, theres not much you can do unless you want to get the cops involved but all cars get scratched and i honestly wouldn't worry about it.

Call your Insurance company if you think it will end up costing over $500.00

No it is not enough!
Ask him for his ID and contact details, write them down and call your insurance company.
If he had a conscience it wouldn't be a problem...
