I know that the 2nd head cannot survive without the body, but why would the extra head cause the healthy baby to become septic?

Because it is not functional and is poisonous to the healthy baby.

Toxins build up.

Because the extra head is likely considered "parasitic". Sometimes babies are born with extra parts but they are only considered "parasitic" when they drain resources from the host (or whole baby).

It's a horrible horrible situation because the parasitic head will likely need to be removed to allow the "whole" baby to survive..However in doing so, they may likely be removing a conscious being.

I'm not sure if it's the same show I read about, but in the one I saw, the parents did have a funeral for the "head" that was removed.

It's so so sad....

It's weird, wild stuff. I hear they like to take an occasional trip to England so the right one gets to drive.
