Interesting development. It's really a wait and see situation. He will either quiet his detractors by playing well and testing negative to any drug tests he has to take or fall flat on his face. I know that the one single reason he is returning is to break the 600 home run barrier. Right now he's 39 years old and needs 12 home runs to do it. What that proves I'm not sure but I think he is taking a chance. I don't think anyone will be that impressed with his reasons considering the steroid cloud hangs over his head just like it does for McGwire, Bonds and all the rest. We'll see!!!

Although I know age is a factor, it was quite coincidental that Sosa took a nosedive as soon as baseball started cracking down on steroids. In fact, across baseball, most of the suspected users that were all-star caliber, all of a sudden got injuries, or just dropped like a stone in their stats.

I don't expect anything from Sosa at the major league level anymore, but as many have said, steroids won't help you connect the bat to the ball, so maybe he has a shot, we'll see.

I think we won't see him.

Its not a bad deal for the Rangers. If Sosa pans out they'll have another bonafide slugger on their team. Unfortunately he's been linked to the unsavory steroid controversy but he has never admitted to nor been tested positive for anything. One can only imagine. His motivation is to be a part of the 600 homerun club.

It'll put butts in the seats, so it's a money move on the Rangers part. Hopefully he will do well though and prove to be an assest. He always has a smile on his face, that's good for any team.

I'm not a fan of Sammy Sosa at all. He is a pretty good batter, but his ego is too big, also he is very selfish and all about Sammy.

Go Sosa, redeem yourself from all the allegations.

I doubt he'll make the team. The question is, will he play in the minors and try to wait for an injury to pop up and give him a shot in the bigs again? I think injuries are his only chance.

Minor league contract. He still will have to earn a spot on the team.

They just keep getting older and not as good as years past. They do not know when to quit. I reckon the almighty dollar is too hard to pass up.

I think it is stupid. If he makes the teem he will still cork his bat and take the roids. And if he does not take the roids, his batting AVG and his HR power will stink. You remember when he was with Baltimore.
