it is a great theme people really get into it
or better have a naughty or nice theme, you will really get to see some of the darker sides of people... smirk

There is the traditional over the hill party where everyone wears black. How about a party where people dress up like what the person has looked like over the years. Or you could have everyone come and share a story about the guest of honor.

Think about it, life begins at 40; really. When my brother turned 40, we went wild and had a theme of beginning life. We bought a few toys and a couple diapers. We also did things to celebrate his new life. Giving seeds to start gardening as representation of a new life. I cannot remember what we did but we had fun with it. Many of us got together and decided on things that were entertaining for him personally. He had a wonderful time as well as the guests. Make it fun.
