Yes, I did feel pressured but I put my foot down. I told them I wasn't doing it and thats all there was to it. They have no right to question your motives so don't allow them the chance. Its a personal preferance, do what you feel is best and don't let anyone try to steer you in any other direction than your own. When it comes to advice, take what you want and leave the rest. Only you know your baby the best, the doctor might know better medically, but you know about anything and everything else. Its your choice to breast or bottle feed, no one else's! Good Luck to you and your little one.

Yep, they were very forceful about it when I had my son. I'm a NICU nurse and am very much a breastfeeding advocate. But, when my son was born, I had been in labor for 29+ hours and was on major doses of Pitocin & Mag Sulfate and was so sick. I didn't produce any milk and my baby was 9 lbs 3.4 oz. The nurses were insisting that I not give my baby anything until my real milk came in (which it never did). Finally, I insisted they bring me formula & nipples and I fed my son. He was fine after that. I kept trying to breastfeed, but my milk never came in.
I tell you all this just to let you know that even people that are somewhat experienced and/or knowledgeable in this still have trouble with it sometimes. The main thing to remember is that YOU are the Mom and YOU make the decisions. Good Luck!

I didn't feel pressure from the staff, but I could tell they didn't approve of my decision. They never tried to change my mind or educate me on the benefits of breastfeeding. After I chose to bottlefeed, they just ignored me for the most part. With my second child I tried breastfeeding (same hospital, same staff) and got a lot of encouragement and support...and they were nicer to me as well.

Actually I didnt. I work in an OB unit and make it a point to never judge a mothers decision about her CHOICE of feeding method. Its her baby and formula fed babies grow up and do just fine. I bottle fed one and breast fed the other 2. All have grown up extremely healthy and normal.

Yes, I felt pressured. I talked to this breastfeeding counselor and she said "you know, that formula is made for animals, they just change a few ingredients for humans to digest"...I was like "wow, thank you".
But I am bottle feeding, I would prefer to breast, but it's too time consuming and most importantly...she won't latch on so my milk supply is on shortage bc I can't pump enough.

was accepted. They asked upon addmission, and had the bottles ready. The only pressure I ever got was from breastfeeding moms.

They actually forced the bottle on my son. And ignored my requests for help to breastfeed.
