have recently turned 17 and have always planned to get a good education and have a rewarding job in some business industry (parent expectation). At 13 yrs old i started listening to rap & hiphop music and immediatly to a liking to it, becoming influenced by the music and its artists. Turning 16 i started to take rapping into a consideration for a career as i started rapping at home and friends houses.I know of the complications and difficulties of getting into the hip hop industry and becoming a rapper, but still want to pursue the career cause of the passion and skill i have for the music. is it worth contuining at 17?

I agree with Sunny 442; it's tough competition and can be disappointing at times. Music business management is a good course to study, if things don't work out for you as a rapper, you can always manage artists or be involved in music production etc. The more you learn about the business, the more opportunities you'll have in case plan A fails. It's good to have a back-up plan. Study for your passion and keep rapping. Good luck.

My man, it's always good to pursue your dreams if that's what you want to do. Music is typically about three things: 1) Who you know. It helps to get a foot in the door. 2) Skill Level - if you're good, then no one can deny you at all. or 3) Being heard - If you're serious about your career, you've got to get heard. Send tapes to radio stations, sell them, get hype, find someone who can get you heard and if people are feelin' it then the sky's the limit.
