Corals are VERY difficult to keep in an aquarium. You need sufficient light, (lots) at the correct spectrum (special lights), salt water with daily chemical tests (sometime done twice daily). The water needs partial changing one or twice weekly. It needs to be at THE CORRECT temperature. If the water is three degrees too warm the coral can be harmed. If the coral is three degrees too cold it will not grow. You do not want too much direct sun light either. And you must provide minimum amount of darkness as well. Coral that is kept in light 24/7 will stress. It needs about twelve hours of light and dark.
It might be best if you find a local aquarium and donate some time to learn how to do it correctly before putting lots of time and money into something you may decide is too much effort. I know San Diego has the Stephen Birch Aquarium (Scripps Institution of Oceanography) as well as the Chula Vista Nature Center that are constantly looking for aquarists and docents. Look in your area and see what you might find.
Aquarium hobbyists in your area would be the other area to seek assistance first hand. They MAY have a group you can join.

Ok I reccomend getting a large marine fish tank, fill it with warm tropical temperature salt water. But remember it may be worth getting a few marine fish to help with the growth of the coral. If the coral doesn't work, don't be down hearted because corals are quite difficult, also look for some seaweeds and small kelps too, starfish and seahorsesare good too!

depends on the coral really, some coral does ok in standard lighting some need more lighting. my advise to you to keep corals is to study keeping corals first its really not that hard to do. Keep great water quality, your tank should be established long before you add corals to tank. Lighting is somthing you want to spend plenty of money on and be sure you have enough for the corals you keep. corals are all different so you need to learn about each individuale coral that you keep to see what supplements you need to add to the water to make em healthy. Also a UV sterilizer never hurts it will improve your water quality and provide a better place for corals to grow. Hope this helps.

Circulated salt water, and not too much sun light, and a couple of very small fish to help Them stay clean and feed.
