im confused about why so many people are against people being gay. i realize that it is cotredictory to some religions, but does it say anywhere in the scripures that being gay is bad? I don't get how people can critize you and hate you because of who you love.

I don't believe it's bad to be gay. Being gay is part of who a person is and that is not something you have control over any more than you can choose what foods taste the best to you.

Although I believe the bible is one very confused and ridiculous piece of literature, I have included a list of references to homosexuality in the bible, because you asked.

The Biblical prohibition of homosexuality stems from a day when the survival of mankind as a species was in doubt and reproductive facility was precious and couldn't be wasted. The fundamentalists take this archaic prohibition as a literal law. Then if they happen to have homosexual tendencies themselves, it puts them between a rock and a hard place. They can't consciously accept their desires, so the way they reinforce their need to subdue their own nature is by attacking it when they see it in others.

Hope this helps.

Being gay is definitely not bad. Don't let anyone hurt your feeling with that non-sense. It is scientifically proved that being gay is genetic. This mean that one of your ancestors must have been also. Yes, many people do it to experiment but this is a whole different story. About the religion part, there are thousands of religions in this world and all they do is come up with more and more "sins" to add to the list. Don't get to caught up in this, just be a good person and believe that there is someone smarter and more powerful than us. Remember that is man that creates a religion and no-one will ever know which one is the right one to follow, or if there is a heaven or hell. You continue being gay and enjoy it, because you are just as everyone else and don't ever, ever let anyone insult you. Report them if necessary, I'll even give you a number to call. Know that those who criticize others are only unsure of themselves. I hope that helps. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

I am a Christian lady and I certainly do not hate anyone and that includes Gay people. The bible is very clear about homosexuality. Read Romans starting Chapter 1 and verse 24 through verse 28. There are numerous places in the bible where this is addressed.

the common argument against homosexuality in christianity is the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah.

S&D were two cities were many lustful people lived. they had homosexual relations as wellas pedophilia and sex out of wedlock. the people also worshiped satan and other demons. god destroyed these towns because there were not more than 5 honest and good people.

however, this argument has many flaws. the relations, hetero/homo/pedo were fuled by LUST! which is a deadly sin. LUST was the reason why the town was destroyed. also, the people did not worship god (against the 10 commandments). Another point is that there were HETEROSEXUAL relations, but not all heterosexual relations are condemmed. only LUSTFUL relations of any kind are condemmed by th bible. therefore, S&D were destroyed not because of homosexuality.

Sure, many people hate homosexuality without putting any thought into it, but homosexuality is in actuality inherently flawed. I'd know; I'm gay myself. Maybe there's some genetic and outside circumstancial factors, sure, but that doesn't completely release the victim (for lack of a better term) from responsibility or control. Think about it for a minute. Do any of you know a homosexual who truly was self-confident and wasn't just putting on a brave facade to delude himself? I can't quite put my finger on it, but somehow being gay goes against what it means to be a man. I know without a doubt I could change myself if I knew the exact psychology behind it, but at this point it still eludes me.

Boy, that was a disorganized post.

I have always believed there is much worse things in the world to be than gay. Its not like you hurt anyone or anything by being gay. So why bother this particular segment of society?

I have my own very specific views and feelings on the subject, but the Bible says to hate the sin, not the sinner. You are supposed to love your brethren. Even Jesus loved sinners.

It's not bad to be gay.
It is bad for those people to hate or cause problems for people who are different/believe differently from/than themselves.
Don't worry about what any scriptures say.
Concern yourself with what your heart says and you can't go wrong.

because religion says it's a sin and people for some reason believe it's a symbol of the "downfall of civilization"

People fear and hate things that are different and that they don't understand. There are a handful of bible quotes that people like to throw around to support their homophobic views, but I believe that most of them are just using this as an excuse for their very childish, uneducated, primative fear.
