Check your C: drive to make sure you have 500Mb-1Gb of free space. Virtual memory creates a temporary swap space on your hard drive, and if your hard drive has no free space, it can't do so.

If you have multiple hard drives, move it off of C: and onto a more free drive - instructions are at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837869

Also, open up your taskmgr (ctrl + alt + del) -- click on the processes tab and see what program is eating up all your memory.
From there, decide which program is hogging up all the memory and if it's worth the memory used by it.
