I am of the opinion that we are going to stay there for... then a day is going to come when the Iraqis are so sick and tired of us being there that the new Iraqi government begins to turn on us and will ask us to leave.

Yes, and I hope it is sooner than later. No matter what your stance is (should we be there or not), the point is we are there, and we aren't going to suddenly poof! be out of Iraq and Afghanistan. We do need to catch more bad guys, and support a fledgling government. However, that government has been given enormous resources, I'll reason to say that this is the largest reconstruction effort of all time, perhaps even more that the repair of Germany and Japan after WWII. The leadership, and more importantly the people of Iraq need to speak in one voice, forget their differences of being Shitte, Sunni, or Kurd, and be unified and strong. So far, you haven't seen any sort of unified front. But, you need to eventually take off the training wheels...Iraq needs to soon prove that it can ride on its own.

Yes, when the U.S. feels that Iraq is responsible enough to be safe without its help. That might take about 10-15 yrs.

Well my understanding is that they are building permanent military bases there. American influence, if our government can succeed, will never leave Iraq. Its part of America's economic colonialism. There's something they dont teach you in school.
