Mitosis increases the number of cells in multicellular organisms like people, other animals, plants, etc. These organisms need new cells for:
-- growth and development
-- replacing worn out cells
-- repairing damaged tissue

Meiosis produces the reproductive cells that have half the usual number of chromosomes. This process is necessary for sexual reproduction because it allows cells from two parents to join and make a zygote with the full number of chromosomes.

Mitosis takes one origional cellular, divids the chromosomes and makes 2 new daughter cells Meiosis takes one origional cellular, divides the chromosomes two times makes 2 new daughter cells which, in turn, make 2 new daughter cells 4 altogether

mitosis is the splitting of cells to produce new cells such as skin cells. E.g. when u fall down and graze ur knee, mitosis will occur to repair the damaged skin.

meiosis is the splitting of sex cells in reporduction. It's basically what happens when the 2 gametes fuse together.
