YES its cruel... this world was made to show us all the wickedness that people can have... heck no is not a kind place.. this world might have kind people in it.. but the world itself its a terrible place to be in.. society has brained washed just about everyone.. feels like everyone is programed to do what this wicked regime tells them... But the end of all this will come and then you'll see how cruel this world really is.. look around you.

The world is a kind place but there are some cruel people in it and they sometimes do mean things but over all the world is a great place.

You create your own REALITY, the more you give the more you will recieve. The best place to make the world better is at your own home base. What are your gifts? Writing, healing, therapy, teaching...offer what you have to those who cannot afford it for the more you give the more you shall recieve in this life. Keep yourself positive and stay away from the negative forces out there, they will drain you like a duracell battery. Send and give love to all you know, help when you can and if all of us could do this the hate would dissapate and LOVE would rule the world, for we all are ONE and the sooner all of us recognize this the better world we shall have. Keep on a Loving path and realize what you dislike in others may be something you see in yourself you need to get rid of. Read the lyrics of John Lennons "Imagine" and put them on your wall by your computer. Best of luck

The world is not cruel, it's the people that are in it. I just read through the answers and saw zzhoundzz said the same thing.

Sometimes it can be a cruel place and sometimes it is a really nice place. I mean it is cruel if you are not getting your way or are just down on your luck, but then things are going well and you have everything you want/need, then things are great!

Its what you want to point out and fight for and be smart enough to know realistic to fact to fiction, so i guess your answer would be both, this world is some times cruel and yet it can be kind also.

It is a cruel place if you want it to be. You would be surprised how much your own attitude effects your life.
when i was in freshman year highschool, i thought life sucked. things brightened up for me junior and senior year, buit when i look back at my journals from freshman year, I just can't figure out what I had to be sad about, my life was actually better then than it is now...
so I guess I must say "both" just depends which one your looking for.
