I take it you mean the most recent ice age? Ice built up on the most northern and southern continents and on the NA continent extended all the way down to the Ohio river valley. The land covered by ice got "pushed down" from the weight while the land that remained uncovered "buoyed up" (kind of like when you push a balloon in with your hand and it bulges up around the edges of your hand. Glacial ice is actually very ductile and at the base of the glacier it flows, while the pressure of the overlying ice melts the bottomice. This causes movement which strips chunks of land and rock from the land's surface and transports it to the end of the ice sheet. Melting and movement of the glacial ice formed small hills (drumlins) and potholes (kettles) which you can see around the US today. NY's Central Park includes "erratics" which are large boulders with striations on them that were transported by the glacial ice.
In the South US, deep soil reserves of a very fine grained powdered earth was ground up by the glaciers then carried on the wind.
Also with the build up of ice on the continents, there was a lowering of sea level as evidenced by the river valleys that are on the continental shelf.
