Actually, I think it is "The Gantlet" with two 't' s and without the 'u'. A gantlet was a brutal punishment where you had to run between lines of club bearing men who would beat you as tried to pass. That pretty much sums up what Eastwood had to do.
If it has the 'u' in it, then it definitely has two 't's as well.
