Because it is in our countries best interest that some nations remain stable. The best example I can probably give is when the Soviet Union disintegrated in the 1990's. The former soviet block states were in financial dire straits and many chastised the Clinton administration for so readily sending financial aid to our former enemies. The fact of the matter is thought those former enemies had control over half the worlds nuclear arsenal. The radical Arabic states in the middle east had much money but no nuclear weapons, rather than see the obvious exchange take place Clinton did the smart thing and sent financial aid to those ailing republics and created valuable allies that have helped keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists. If the republicans in congress and the senate would have had their way we would be living in an even more dangerous world today than we are.

The homeless live very well compared to people in the third world countries. I don't sympathize with the homeless, call me cruel and inhumane, but you have to work at being homeless in this country, it's a choice. There are some and I mean some exceptions of course but for the most part the homeless don't need to suck our tax revenue. Also people starving in America is myth, why are all the poor people so fat if they can't get access to food. Show me where the starving Americans are, please show me.

Yes, you should clean up your own house before e you invite the neighbors over, but isn't what you are suggesting going to amount to just handing over more welfare? That really won't solve the problem, it will just treat a symptom.

If you want to spend money on training people for better jobs or invest in programs like habitat for humanity then you may be getting somewhere.

No, we need to take care of our own first and foremost! We have inspired terrorist by becoming involved in the internal affairs of other countries far too long!
