Help please!?

I bought a game from from walmart and it had a mark on it so I cleaned it with a towel and now my disk has tiny scratches that are seen when under a light. Am I being paranoid, will the game work. or is the game really damaged

A lot of my discs have small scratches, and they still work, but you never know... I would test it out in the console, and return it if it doesn't work.
