Is anyone else disgusted by the way American Idol shows these untalented people? I feel embarrassed for these people, yet the show takes no mercy on them, shows them on national TV making fools of themselves and don't give a rat's poop chute on hoe these people feel or must deal with their infamy after the show. I can't watch, I feel embarassed for them. Am I alone?

Although crazy2notsocrazy says you are alone, obviously you aren't as answers here and elsewhere show. I do not think the guy compared to a monkey had mental problems. I saw zero evidence of that. I do think his heavy friend may have had mental problems. I was glad the judges weren't rude to him and I thought parts of his singing were pretty good..better then I expected, but he messed up some parts. I actually enjoyed his singing and thought the guy compared to a monkey had a very good personality. It was nice to see how supportive and kind they were to each other, unlike the judges demonstrated.

This is what makes the show great. To get selected you need to really have something. If you think you have talent and not some stupid pipe dream then you need to walk the gauntlet.

Here the show should take no mercy at all, and the threat of what you see happening to others should be enough to cull most of the riff-raff and pass through only those with demonstrated talent and ability, otherwise the rest of the process would just be a joke.

The old adage " If you can't take the heat....." Works for this show. Actually, some people probably get a healthy reality check
out of it, and others are just there to be the fool in the first place, so they are really getting what they want just to be seen.

Long live the show, and it works because it is hard, mean, cruel and rewarding, just like the rest of the world.

I agree with you because I think they're too wrong to expose people and to even start off a show like that. I quit watching American Idol after Fantasia won because it went downhill from there. However, since there is nothing else to watch these days I decided to give it another try this season although I'm not in love with it. I think that American Idol should be more responsible with what they put on TV.

I watched it last two nights and I really feel bad for some of these people. It was funny when people came in to make fools of themselves, but some of these people have serious mental issues. During the show I asked my wife when the first American Idol suicide will hit the media. It's getting hard to watch. Like the hairdresser/hick's wannabe, he had major mental issues going on.

American Idol IS loathsome.

What's truly disgusting are the millions of people that have enabled this drivel to continue for, what 6 seasons now?

The demeaning of people "not good enough" or "not pretty enough" is bad, but also the complete whitewashing of the art of making music is re-god damned-diculous.

My stomach turns, while I also chuckle, everytime I remember Simon Cowl on a radio show a few years back, mister-music-opinion-expert. They brought in the singer for a band (I think it was 3 doors down) he comes in, Simon has no idea who the guy is by sight (no biggy, I have no idea what 3doors down looks like)

and the guy sings a damned good rendition of his song that happens to be on the charts THAT moment, I think it was on the Spiderman soundtrack.

Simon pans the guy, says he's not talented.

THAT is how irresponsible and out of touch "IDOL" is.

It provides entertainment, pure and simple, however I agree this season it's going a bit too far. I enjoy watching the goobers just at much as anyone, but I wish they would show more of the better singers who advanced. It seems this season they are focusing more on the nitwits instead of those who made it. It's sad that some of these people were encouraged to audition, especially by loved ones or parents, and then wind up humiliated on national television. I believe some were there just to get thier 15 minutes, but the kids seemed genuinely crushed...and shame on thier parents for encouraging them. I mean, if I couldn't sing a tune to save my soul, I would want someone to tell me and be honest...and not wind up on tv representing my hometown only to be made a laughing stock. That's sad, and I agree with ya.

I sort of feel bad for the people that get attacked for their appearance, I mean it is a singing competition afterall. However, these folks are signing up and asking to be judged so they should be able to handle what they're told. It's a shame the people close to the contestants aren't willing to be honest with them in the first place. Like the 17 year old juggler kid from Minneapolis. Sure the judges were tough on him, but let's get serious he couldn't sing to save his life and his family should not be encouraging him.

nope your not alone. i feel embrassed for them as well. i gave up watching american idol after the first season, season 2 and on has only been showing 55 minutes of people who can't sing and then show about 2 minutes of the people who are actually going to hollywood. sometimes i wonder if the producers actually pay unknown actors or people from the streets to sing badly just for ratings cus you hear these people come on and say my family and friends say i sound like mariah carey or christina aguilera or justin timberlake and they sound like a cat being killed, how do they not know they sound like that and why would their friends actually lie to them like that.

i won't be in a position to have confidence that. i think of Antonella Barba sucks. Yeah she did sound extra advantageous then her crapy pal interior the 1st audition, yet i think of the guy she replace into upagainst final week replace into so lots extra advantageous then her. I in all probability won't end gazing if and that i propose IF she makes it to the the terrific option 12, yet i think of she might desire to be diqualified if Frenchie replace into, ans i think of there replace into some one else additionally. besides Chris Sligh, and Sundance head are my favs. Have a sturdy day

Yes you are alone. I'm re-watching it for the second time tonight, it's hilarious. I can honestly say the only people I feel sorry for is the people that don't know any better. You know people that actually have mental problems. Like the guy who got compared to a monkey, I have to admit that was pretty mean, BUT...hey, they're the ones that signed up for the show. They knew what they were getting into. If you don't want to be on t.v. and get made a fool of, then don't go. HELLO....! How hard is that to understand?! It's called freewill.
