You need to isolate the x factors, so subtract x from each side:
0 = 50 + 5x - x

Then subtract 50 from each side.
-50 = 5x - x

Subtract (1)x from 5x.
-50 = 4x

Divide both sides by 4 to get x alone.
-50/4 = x

Simplify
-12.5 = x

That is your answer. Check your math:
(-12.5) = 50 + (5*-12.5)?????

There can be no debate. -12.5 is the only answer.

x = 50 + 5x
-5x - 5x
--------------------
-4x = 50
----- ----
-4 -4

x = -12 1/2

1) Subtract -5x from both sides.
2) Subract x by -5x and get -4x.
3) Divide both sides by four to get the x by itself.
4) And there is your answer. ^^
