it depend on baby to baby, I feel you should ask your doctor, whether he is ok or you also have to check if he is allergic to some items before feeding... in children's matter it is better to take the advice of the Doctor...you can give him some mashed, steam banana's to put on weight

I think he sounds fine. Why are you concerned, is his doctor concerned? If you arent breast feeding him I guess he would be eating formula. If you make him too fat while he is young, he may have a problem with being fat all his life. Introduce him to foods that are geared for his age. Cereals and baby foods.A lot of people bypass baby food and just blend some of what they eat as a family. Well mashed bananas and avacadoes are good. Do you take him to a well baby clinic? Ask there about some guidlines for feeding him well . If you have a local food co-op or healthfood store you can learn there about healthy things for him.

I have a 6 month old baby boy too! We just had an appt today and he was 27" and 17.5 lbs and the dr said he was in the 34% on the growth chart. He said that its normal... so i'm not worried all i know is that i feed him when his hungry and stop when he's full and happy! good luck with your little guy ;)

That sounds like a healthy size. You can ask your doc about your childs growth curve and percentile. What matters is that your child has a consistant growth curve. My son is just great and was 15lbs and 26 inches at his 6 month check up.

More importantly is your sone meeting his developmental milestones? Size is not the only, or even best measure of a baby's health.

He sounds pretty heavy. The old rule is that they should double their birth weight by 6 mos, triple it by 1 year. So at six months you are looking at 14 lbs. and hit 21 lbs. around 1 year, Of course, every baby grows at his/her own pace. It is not healthy for babies to gain weight quickly!

my son is 5 months old and is just over 16 lbs and 25 inches long...... he is in the 75% for kids his age in his weight and 90% for his height..... his doctor says that he is perfectly normal....... just go with your mothers feelings.... what do you think??
plus there are websites that you can go that will help you with the percentages and everything..... that will tell you where his is at with all the other kids his age.....

good luck i used to think that Riley was a eating to much but he eats what he wants and he was a big baby at birth 8 lbs even and 21 inches long

Your baby is the perfect size... all babies are different. My son, who is also six months old is 21 lbs but today I met a one year old who was 20 lbs and she looked perfectly healthy. It seems like you're doing a wonderful job... just continue to do whatever it is that you're doing. If babies are too heavy, like my daughter was, it will delay their crawling and walking. Good Luck, enjoy your son..big or small, happy and healthy
