Really? Maybe for one to brag about it. then maybe its"Uncool" but its good to have some knowledge under your belt even if you have to keep it to yourself rather then show it off to everyone.
Of course history is the past so the youth thinks in the frame of mind that the present is the most important.
But if theres one way history has proven to be useful you can learn from your and others mistake so that you will never fall in the same predicament.

Because often the "cool" youth are unintelligent and feel that the "adults" must deal with the problems. Sometimes they are aggravated with the world. Sometimes, they just dint want to grow up.

Its not cool.
The culture of youth today is selfish. its an i-get-what-i-want time.
Studies aren't important to most youth anymore.
What they don't realize is, history can teach us lessons that are hard to learn by experience.
Its not cool, and if you know any kid who thinks its cool not to learn history, teach em a lesson. current events is also as important, because its history in the making.

Holy ****, Dude! How OLD are you? Why is it "cool"...? First of all, what age group are you referring to? There's a big difference between someone who's 13 and someone who's 8. And the kids (many of them, anyway) are aware of the current situation. And as far as history goes, they have a history class that they have to go to every ******* day in school! So what the hell are you talking about?!

Because these days youth seem to only care about pleasure for the moment and not what will happen to them if something unexpected happens. What they fail to realize is that knowledge is power

While people will respect you for your intelligence, that won't happen until adulthood.
Kids are trying to find themselves, and "try on" lots of personalities. They turn, today, to pop media, TV, etc. Currently, intelligence is NOT highly valued ( see paris hilton, lil john, most of the questions on this site).
They will grow up...and be constantly upset that they did not study more, because their kids will make absolutely no sense to them at all.

too many youngsters have been brain-washed by materialism offered by their parents and all the major corporates.
The main stream corporate world needs people who's main goal in life is to be a consumer and who can't think for themselves. therefore through media/advertising the anti-knowledge/anti-intellegence mentality has prevailed

they think that it has nothing to do with them and that whatever is going on right now wont affect them ever.. so therefore it would be uncool for them since it has nothing to do with them
