Mammals normally have four-chambered hearts, though some individual organisms (even humans) can have congenital variants.

Amphibians, such as frogs, have three chambers -- both atrial (top portions) but a single ventricle. This makes for a less efficient separation of the oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, but their system has worked well enough for a few hundred million years.

"Lower" animals, such as worms, have more primitive pulsatile tissue that form arches, but you can't really call it a multi-chambered heart.

Then you get down to really primitive animals that get their circulation accomplished by osmosis and random circulation of cellular fluids. They don't even have a circulatory system!

So, there you go.

i would like to point out that cyclinders in a car doesnt directly effect it performance depends on the size of each cylinder. However a 12 cyclinder jag does run smoother than an 8 cyclinder corvette but the vette has more power. Furthmore belive it or not but a heart works a little different that a car. Terrible comparison.

No. Earthworms have 5 pairs of aortic arches -- no complete chambers. Fish have two chambered hearts. Reptiles and amphibians have three chambered hearts.
