Maybe a simpler way instead of typing in Morse code which is loud is that you could assign a number 1-26 to each of the letters in the alphabet. People might be smart enough to crack your code though.
Or you and your friend could get the same copy of a favorite book.
Your message could start with a page # followed by a colon say 56:
then you could count the number of letter on the page until you get to the first letter of your message.
Say the first line of pg 12 of the book said : I do not like green eggs and ham. Sam I am. I would not like them in a house ; I would not like them with a mouse, dear friend.
12: (11,10,6) (25,10,) (3, 35,6) (39,89) (23,14, 88,10)!!!!

Yesterday I was going to the store and slipped on a Bazoka JOE gum wrapper. I just couldn't believe it! I was so embarrased! I went home to fix myself up and then SENT the maid to run the errand for ME. I also asked if she would swing by the post office to pick up the MAIL. She passed by the neighbour on the way out and HE smiled. That IS nice she tought to herself. She started to blush and felt very HOT all over...
