I am not really sure on this one. Really it's hard to say. I believe that dreams can have relevant meaning to your life to some degree, but not to the extent that Sigmund Freud believed. It seems that most dreams are nonsense, that they are comprised of random images and appear to not mean anything significant. Although, there are times when very personal images in these dreams are mixed in with the nonsensible images. And sometimes dreams can show you things that are important and relevant to things in your life..

One theory is that the area of your brain that controls rational thought is less active during sleep, thus leaving your semi-conscious mind to wander and create bizzare thoughts through imagery. This would make sense seeing that while sleeping you obviously don't have control over your thought process.

Another once popular belief was that dreams are metaphoric smbols that are representing the subconscious thoughts you repress during your conscious state. Freud believed that these subconscious thoughts were bad, and your mind was protecting you from them while awake. Then when you sleep they come out to let you know they exist. This theory has almost completely been abondened by most psychologists.

Really its a very subjective topic. Everytime I awake from a dream I always try to understand what it was about. But I feel that trying to make sense of an unusual dream is pointless. A lot of times I wish I was back in the dream upon awaking. The surrealness of them and the feelings they induce are things that can never be experienced in the awake state.

The thing is dreams usually don't mean anything as long as some meaning is "not" associated with it. This means the subject (dreamer that is ...) has to associate some meaning to it before the dream can be analyzed clinically by some professional in the field.
For more info on the clinical interpretation of dreams u can see here .... http://mmbillah.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=9

Hope that helps ...

Some people think dreams have meanings in your waking life, but I do not subscribe to that theory. I think dreams are just idle thoughts unemcumbered by the din of the day.

I don't believe that dreams have meanings. I mean, you could pick up a dream meaning book and I'm sure you could find something about a ball rolling around. But it wouldn't really mean anything.
Dreams are just what your mind does when it's bored while you're asleep.

Yes, some dreams have meanings--not necessarily what you see in the dream, though.

For example, if someone dies in a dream, it could simply mean that a certain part of your life is changing. Your dream really is quite random--but I wouldn't worry about it.

i think it is our brain reorganizing itself as the body rests and heals. like a computer, it is performing scan disc, dick clean up and defraging. after all. look at all the billions of thoughts and actions we go through each day. certainly, we catch fragments of this process and we call them dreams. i have studied myself for years now concerning my many dreams. they have had no revalations, no realities not even one winning lotter number. as far as you having a reoccurring dream, no biggy. your brain is stuck on that fragment that's all. i have had many reoccurring dreams. nothing ever came of them.
