Water doesn't burn, gas does. The expansion of the combustion gases push the pistons in the engine, thus moving the car. Combustion is a reaction between the hydrocarbons in the fuel and oxygen in the air, producing (besides heat) carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and depending on other ingredients in the gasoline, sulfur dioxide, etc.

The purpose of a gasoline car engine is to convert gasoline into motion so that your car can move. Currently the easiest way to create motion from gasoline is to burn the gasoline inside an engine. Therefore, a car engine is an internal combustion engine -- combustion takes place internally.

The reason gasoline is used because it combusts inside the engine. Also computer controlled fuel injection is responsible for making the process work. That is the computer calculates how much fuel it needs to inject into the engine, and afterwards the fuel is ignited inside the engine, which causes the piston to move, and which in essence creates motion. Here is a photo of the process so that you can see for yourself (look at the colourful diagram in the middle of the page).

Cars used gasoline becuase they have combustion engines. They burn fuel that results in small controlled explosions that force pistons up and around to create torque that goes to distrubtion centers and turns the wheels. Hope that helps!!

Each time yuo press the gas pedal, the engine sucks the gas in like a spray and it uses it like that, more or less the way we need food to eat. Whenever we expend a certain amount of calories, we lose it and end up needing more. We are liek cars really.

To get down the road! Gas to combusts the engine, the engine makes power, the power pushes the gears that make the wheels turn. And you are off............ Very simple, even a girl knows!
