Hey I had my 2nd ultrasound today at 13.5 weeks, the baby still had a good strong heartbeat and was moving around like a mexican jumping bean!! What are the risks of possibly miscarring now? Are they much lower than in the beginning!? I want to start feeling excited for this baby, instead of worrying everyday if I am going to lose it or not!

to clear things up for mystic, i am not high risk, but my mom works for a medical center and they just did this last one for me and video taped it because they have known me my whole life ;)
My only one at my doctors office was at 9 weeks, the next one is scheduled for 20 weeks

Chances for miscarriage do lessen the further along you become. Just keep healthy, exercise, balanced diet, water, relax... and everything should develop well.

Hey congrats to you,
I understand your reasons for worriying but at the end of the day all your doing is increasing your stress levels by worrying so much. Just try to relax and enjoy the ride because befor long it will all be over and the sleepless nights will begin. start looking forward to the next milestones. i.e being able to feel it move, start thinking of some names. Think of how you might like to decorate its room and what sort of furniture you would like to do its room in. Concentrate on the posatives of how this will impact your life. You will still have times of not knoweing i still do and im 21 weeks. Most of all make sure that the things that are in your hands you are doing. a little lite excersise, good diet, because the rest is up to that little life thats growing.
Good luck with every thing. Dont hesatate to IM me if youd like to chat.

TWO??? Ultrasounds and you are only at the start of your second trimester? What's that about?
I am assuming from the number of ultrasounds that you are high risk so you should be asking your doc.
Edit to add:
Ok, sorry. But where I live women don't normally get ANY ultrasounds during pregnancy. Yes the miscarriage risk goes down at about 12 weeks.

Oh congratulations, look it is perfectly normal to have these feelings but try to think positively, the powers of positive thinking are very underestimated, yes i beleive that the further along you get the less the risk (not knowing of any complications that you have i cant be 100% sure of course) but just try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy, it is a beautiful experience that no-one who has never had children can ever imagine so make the most of it...babies know and feel any stress your going through so try to destress as much as possible...i have my fingers crossed for you both XX...best of luck

every day that you wake up and havent lost your baby increases the chances that you wont.
I think the official medical consensus is 20 weeks- after that, miscarriage is extremely rare.
at 13 weeks, you are probably in the safe, though. your baby is strong enough to move, his heart beats on its own, and his immune system is already developing.
so go ahead, feel excited!
But know that you will never, ever stop worrying. Not even after your baby is born!

Hello, Well your chances drop now once your past the first 13 weeks, also you have seen a heart beat so thats also good. Their is always the chance of miscarriage, but after 16 weeks its drops to like 1 percent. So stay healthy and be happy.
Good Luck

I assume you have miscarried before. I had two miscarages early on. And 2 daughter born fine. So the fact that the baby is there and moving all around is great. No one can guarentee no problems anymore then they can promise you to live to be 80. You want to be able to be excited and the truth is there are no guarentees. The further along you get lowers your risk of miscarage. For me - losing my first two, tore me up emotionally. I blamed everyone, even God. But I learned that he understands my pain and his love covers my pain and I know that my first two children are waiting for me in Heaven.

I agree that the wellbeing practitioner will enable her know if there is something with the toddler. i'm able to unquestionably understand your project, yet while all the organs have been measuring on the the terrific option length and the heart beat replace into sturdy, the toddler may be slightly small. additionally, from time to time ultrasounds are not a hundred% precise even this a techniques into being pregnant. sturdy success and that i wish the toddler is great! yet i does not hassle except the wellbeing practitioner is in contact.

Yes it's time to get excited. My first pg ended in a miscarriage before I could make it to the 2nd trimester. In the following pg I always felt relieved to make it past 12 wks. Try to stop worrying now and just enjoy being pg and taking care of yourself. Congrats!!
