How deep of a color is lilac? Are there lighter tints and darker shades of the same thing?

I posted a question, and someone thought that lavender is light purple, and lilac is darker. I think they're both light, but lavender is more pink, and lilac is more bluish. Any artists know?

Ie, the top one is lavender, and the bottom is lilac to me. Wrong?

You are right in this one. Both are very pale shades of purple...lavander has a pink tint to it (meaning it essentially has more red) while Lilac is a bit more to the blue side. They are similar colors, in the same family, just differ in the content of primary colors.
