that there is a month during pregnancy where the hormone in your urine goes down so if you take the test it comes up negative?

Your friend is wrong. Your hormone level will not drop until after you have given birth.

I wouldn't rely on what your friend said, ask a doctor about it, they would know for sure, but I highly doubt that your hormones could dip that low unless you lost the pregnancy (baby died, so hormones stopped or vice versa). Or it was during the first month when the hormone level hasn't gotten high enough yet. And like i said in my last response, if it was late in pregnancy, like the sixth month or further, you shouldn't need a test to tell you whether you're pregnant or not. If you do, it was a bad choice to wait 6 months to find out, I would even go as far as to say that would be neglectful to the baby inside, and you should reconsider whether you are mature enough to raise a child or not.. not trying to be mean, just thinking about the good of anyone and their baby who might get into that kind of situation. And that would only be a personal choice to make, but one you would be best to consider if you were in that situation.

hCG levels are supposed to at least double in a 48 hour period until they reach a certain level in which they start to decline.

hCG is the hormone that helps sustain a woman's pregnancy until the second trimester when the placenta starts functioning fully and takes over.

therefore, there should definitely always be enough hCG in the urine or blood of a pregnant woman to be able to detect the pregnancy when there are no other clear signs.

although levels do decline during the 2nd trimester, a woman should not only be showing, but the other obvious signs of pregnancy would be apparent (morning sickness, weight gain, larger/tender breasts, loss of period, etc...)

hope this helps clear up the confusion!!!

That isnt true. The first month of pregnancy your hormone level may be too low to register on a home pregnancy test, but it increases daily.

That is totally wrong..from what i understand the hormone level only increases during the extent of your pregnancy never decreases. It doubles daily right fom the begginnng. If your concerned with anything to do with your pregnancy ring your gp or speak to a clinic or someone experienced.
Hope all is well for you .

No, that is not true.

Sometimes when you very first become pregnant, the hormone level is not high enough so that it can be tested in an over-the-counter test. But that is just in the first 3 weeks or so.

in some people ,right at the beginning [1-4weeks]the test is often wrong.it never hurts to retest [if your cycle does not start when you think it's due]
