The level of racism in any given country is only accurately determined by polls and even those are not very accurate. Generally there are some tests carried out and they have questions like: Will you mind if a person of another race moved in next door? Will you mind marrying a person of another race, etc. By taking a cross section of the population, an approximate idea of the level of xenophobia/racism in percentages is determined.

Something like: 30% of such and such nationality does not want such and such people here and 25% of such and such people will not marry a person of this and that race.

You would need to do a research on such polls in Russia to determine the level of prejudice against your particular group. It seems like they have been conducted although I have no link to such a site.

Generally, a lot also depends on the area and what race you are talking about.

It seems to be like this with Russia.

Russians generally like people who look and talk like they do- meaning white and of Slavic origin. They will also like people who look like them and come from richer countries. They would as a rule not like as much people who are darker and poorer than they are.

So you need to figure out where you would stand if you went there. A poor African student would probably fare the worst, a Russian speaking Pole would probably be most welcome and treated most well.

Some groups have been the butt of prejudice- Jews ( considered a separate ethnic groups there) and ethnic Germans- favorite pet-peeves. People from the Caucasus- Armenians, Georgians have recently been attacked.

Are you planning on visiting there?

I don't think any country can be more arrogant than America. Even calling ourselves Americans is arrogant. We are USAans.
