I can't recommend a brand per se, because it depends on how your body works with the different brands and everyone is different on how they react.

The safest is the low-dose pills - what I am on.

shemayramble: Some women take birth control pills for reasons other than birth control. I am one of them. Without the pill, I would bleed all the time and have other problems.
Yes, some shouldn't take them due to medical history, but some of us need them for medical reasons. There's no need to express something that's untrue for some women.

You should know that all methods of hormonal birth control, including the Pill, work in three ways:

1. By attempting to prevent ovulation (the release of an egg)
2. By thickening cervical mucus, which may prevent sperm from reaching the egg
3. By changing the lining of the womb to prevent a newly conceived human being from implanting in the womb, causing his or her death at 5-9 days old.

Some claim that hormonal birth control only "prevents pregnancy," but this is only because there has been a move to change the definition of the beginning of pregnancy from fertilization to implantation. This is scientifically dishonest. Even medical textbooks recognize that life begins at fertilization:

It all depends on the needs of the individual. There is no prescription without analysis of the patient: age, smoking?, weight, stroke in the family; there are a lot of questions and facts that would have to be assessed before someone can be offered the pill that is right for their needs.

Well you need to talk to your doctor for an opinion. There are at least 30 different types of BC pills.

I have found for me that Loestrin24 works really well. It still gives you regular periods but on average they don't last much longer than 3 days. But you really should talk to your doctor and see what they say works the best because thats how I got this one.

None. Women, stop putting hormones in your body and use a condom!! Hormones will make you ill or end up killing you!! Do some research before you use ANYTHING for a contraceptive. DO NOT LISTEN TO DOCTORS because they only want your money and so do the pharmecutical companies. You do not need added hormones in your body!!

Well I found that Ortho Tri-cyclen lo seem to be the best for me. If you are concerned about side effects the doses of hormones are lower so it is not likely to affect your blood pressure as much(if you are concerned about that).
