why do greeks move out of greece, and why do they want to come to the united state??

That is Great they need to come here, what would we do without their wonderful restaurants, and the Greek Easter? God Bless the Greeks, they helped make this country where do you think Rome came from? They had a culture to be proud of their Arts, their philosophies, Socrates? Aristotle, Plato, Greek Tragedy Plays the theatre? Why Great Britain would not ever had Shakespeare without Greece and their education, nor would the Roman Empire have succeeded for they were their teachers, they deciphered the hiroglyphics from the Rosetta stone, they translated the Hebrew from the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Aramaic from the writings from the holy city of Jerselum to Latin, The old and new testament was translated by them they are a brilliant people.

Why America? Actually, more Greek immigrants live in Australia than in the USA. In fact, Melbourne has a higher Greek population than any city in Greece, except Athens and Thessaloniki.

Also, the days of Greek immigration are basically over...and has been over since the 70's when the Junta was ousted from Greece. There are those who do move away from Greece, but there is no flooding of Greek immigrants to any country right now, and for the past 30+ years.

I am American and moved to Greece 3 years ago..I love it here and only have the desire to return to the USA when visiting for a few weeks per year.

You're right when you say Greeks are no longer mass-emigrating.

One correction: I think Toronto has far more Greeks than Melbourne. This might be true of Chicago as well, but I'm not sure.

as a consumer country as it is... USA has the best per capita income in the world...
