my son's sugar glider has a hole in the back of it's neck. Is this caused by a health issue or could it be from it's mate or a bug or parisite?

a hole??? or just a bald spot? If a hole- bring it to the vet. A bald spot- could be nutrition or scraped it on something.
It is not normal to have a hole- bring it to the vet.
A bug (usually a type of maggot) would have a bald area around the whole, some swelling, and you would see it come out every once and a while (might look like white or yellow puss, but solid). A way to kill them is to put vaseline on the whole- they can't breathe. If it dies inside though, you need to surgically remove it.

Nono, if its a bald spot, thats natural. The males get bald spots on the tops of their heads, its one of the places its musky scent comes from. If its a hole, like through the skin, you need to find a vet that is capable of treating sugar gliders right away.

Is this sugar glider housed by itself?? If it is on the back of it's neck, it could be a wound from another glider. If it is on the top of it's head or on its chest (if it is a male) it is just a scent gland. Can you take a photo of it? If you can, maybe post it on this forum http://www.sugarglider.net and see if anyone can help you there. Hope that helps!

Why are you asking this question on here? Get it to a vet a hole in any animal where there is not supposed to be one is a huge health issue, I would think.
